The tortoise and the hare

Once upon a time, there was an arrogant Hare. “Look at me!”, said the Hare. “I can run very fast”. The Tortoise was very confident and said, “you have long legs, and you can run fast, but I will win in a race.” The Hare looked at the Tortoise and laughed at his short legs and slow walk. The Hare thought this was a crazy idea, so she immediately accepted the challenge.

When the race started, the Tortoise began a slow, steady walk, and didn’t stop for a moment until the finish line. The Hare ran fast, but thought she had lots of extra time, so she stopped to sleep under a tree. When the Hare woke up, she raced quickly to the end. However, the Tortoise had already finished. The hare lost the race despite her speed.

What is a Cover Letter?

A cover letter is a document you send with your CV (traditionally as the front cover). It allows you to highlight certain areas that make you perfect for the job.

What should a cover letter include?

Cover letters are less rigid than CVs, but there are some things you should always include:

Your personal details (e.g. name, address, phone number)
The hiring manager’s name (if you have it)
Where you found the vacancy
Why you’re suitable for the job
What you can do for the company
Closing statements and thanking.

How should a cover letter be formatted?

To make sure what you write is logical, to the point and easy to read, here are some key rules to follow for your cover letter:

Be clear and concise
Keep paragraphs short and direct
Choose a professional font
Check spelling and grammar
Use a template

How long should a cover letter be?

Around half a page of A4 (one page maximum).
It should be a little more in-depth than your CV, but keep it brief.

Do I have to have a cover letter?

You should always submit a cover letter with your CV. No exceptions.*
Not only does it show you’re serious about the job you’re applying for, it also gives you a chance to tailor your application to the role.

The lion and the mouse

After he ate his lunch, a lion🦁 went to sleep. A little mouse🐭 decided to climb over the lion. The king of the jungle woke up, caught the mouse and decided to kill him. The terrified😱 mouse said, ” Please, don’t eat me. I will help you in the future”. The lion laughed😆 at this idea, but he didn’t eat the mouse, and let it go.

After a few days, some hunters caught the lion in a net🥅. Luckily, the mouse heard the lion roaring. He ran🏃 very fast to help the lion, and bit the ropes of the net with his sharp teeth. “You laughed at the idea I could help you,” said the mouse. “Now you can see that even a mouse can help a lion sometimes.”
